Joanna (Jo) Bentley
Physiotherapist | Pilates Instructor
Jo is available at our Currimundi location.
Jo is a UK qualified Physiotherapist and Pilates instructor who has degrees in both Physiotherapy and Sport and Exercise Science from Cardiff and Sheffield Hallam Universities. She has 17 years clinical experience working in both private and public sectors in Australia and the UK. She has been a Physiotherapist on the Sunshine Coast for the last 15 years.
Most of her experience has been predominantly in musculoskeletal physiotherapy but she draws from her time working in orthopaedics, neuro and cardiac rehab to be able to help her patients no matter how complex their needs.
Jo loves using manual therapy and dry needling/acupuncture techniques to help patients initially with pain management and then take them on a journey of rehabilitation, using Pilates and strength based exercises in the gym, through to specific return to sport programs.

About Jo
Sport was a big part of Jo’s childhood, whether it be dancing, playing netball and squash at a high level or watching soccer or rugby league with her Dad at weekends, it was something she wanted to be involved in from an early age. A career in physiotherapy meant she could combine her two passions, exercise and helping people.
Jo loves that in Physiotherapy every day is different: “We are constantly having to adapt our treatments based on the person standing in front of us, not the injury that they walk into the room with. It keeps me thinking outside the box and the creativity and challenge is what makes me love what I do!”
You’ll find me in my spare time: I love to be active, so down at the beach or jumping in the pool with the kids during the summer months. Most mornings I like to walk or run with the dog on the beach or coastal pathway and I love exercising in my home gym. My weekends are spent mostly watching the kids play sport these days, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!
My philosophy on Exercise Physiology: Everybody’s rehab journey is different. It’s my job to combine the injury with the person and come up with the best way to help that person reach their own meaningful rehab goals. Listening to what is important to patients will determine how successful your treatment will be.
Favourite place on the Sunshine Coast: Dicky Beach.
“Exercise is the best medicine. Making the decision to exercise and be stronger and healthier every day will not only help you recover from injury quicker, but can also prevent you getting injured in the first place. ” - Jo Bentley, Physiotherapist, Embody Movement
