About Rory

Rory is an Irish Physiotherapist, who has recently moved to the Sunshine Coast, after spending almost ten years in Glasgow, Scotland. Having a keen interest in sport, he studied Physiology and Sport Science, before completing a Masters degree in Physiotherapy in Leeds, England.

After gaining experience in various hospital rotations including Rheumatology, aged care, and trauma / orthopaedic rehabilitation, Rory pursued Rheumatology as a speciality. Here he developed a passion for helping people with inflammatory conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or Ankylosing Spondylitis to live their best lives, and developed in this specialty for almost five years before moving to Australia.

Having grown up around sport and getting work experience with British Athletics middle distance runners, and with professional soccer teams, sport has always been one of his interests. Rory has enjoyed helping people not just back to their sport but back to a high level.

Rory loves working with clients to achieve their goals, from being able to walk on the beach without pain to managing a high level of exercise after an injury. He uses a combined approach including hands-on techniques, along with education and exercise prescription based on each person’s goals.

You’ll find me in my spare time: Exploring the local beaches with my wife. I also love playing music and cooking for friends.

My philosophy on Physiotherapy: I believe everyone should leave the clinic room feeling listened to and validated. I always seek to understand the effect an injury or condition is having on someone’s life, explain and reassure them about their symptoms and make a plan together to help achieve their goals.
