Rachel Morgan-Varlow
Owner | Physiotherapist | Pilates Instructor
Rachel is not currently taking new patients.
Since graduating from the University of Queensland in 2007, Rachel has gained vast experience in Physiotherapy and has an aptitude for addressing the root cause of ongoing issues.
Rachel specialises in treatment with a holistic approach, assessing the biomechanics of clients to determine the movement dysfunction contributing to pain and injury. Her Pilates classes address these dysfunctions specifically, with each client performing individual exercises determined by their needs.
Rachel understands a multitude of factors that contribute to recovery from injury and provides realistic management plans that factor in each patient’s needs and lifestyle.
A session with Rachel not only focuses on reducing symptoms but also on ensuring you understand your injury and how to achieve the change you’re seeking. Her treatments are gentle and effective, utilising many therapy techniques (Physiotherapy-based as well as Bowen therapy and the Emmett technique).

About Rachel
From the age of 15, Rachel knew she wanted to work in healthcare and wanted her work to be of service to the community. Physiotherapy offered plenty of variety and the opportunity for Rachel to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Rachel enjoys the challenge that Physiotherapy brings - that injury and pain are not black and white and recovery is impacted by hundreds of factors including expectations, stress levels, nutrition, hormones, emotion and education. She sees it a little like putting a puzzle together and the pieces are different for everyone.
Rachel launched Embody Movement initially as a means to work for herself while having children. She wanted to create a practice where customer service, warmth and care were at the forefront. Spending many years finding like-minded Practitioners with a high level of experience and expertise, Embody Movement has surpassed its initial goals.
A passion for delivering a more holistic approach to health for women of all ages inspired Rachel to create the Sunshine Coast Women’s Health Collaborative, a multidisciplinary group of knowledgeable medical and allied health professionals. The Collaborative aims to develop better access to accurate and safe health-related information for women, as well as open referral pathways for individualised care.
Rachel is a proud mum to three young children and has a vision for Embody Movement to be known as a place to be heard and feel your best version of yourself. She prides herself on creating a workplace where staff feel supported to provide their best care, with no egos and a healthy work-life balance.
You’ll find me in my spare time: at the beach with my family, enjoying good food and wine with my husband or exercising (gym, yoga, Pilates or meditation).
My philosophy on Physiotherapy: A person who feels heard and understands why they are experiencing pain is more likely to make the changes required to recover. It’s important to listen to each patient, understand their journey and identify improvements that will improve their quality of life. You may not care if a treatment increases knee flexion by 10 degrees; you do care if you can get off the toilet without needing help, or can run around the park with the kids.
Favourite place on the Sunshine Coast: We love Point Cartwright and Yaroomba - the combination of beach and rockpools makes it extra special for our little ones.
“I believe that any type of movement is positive movement. Exercise or rehabilitation does not have to be a rigid list of exercises to perform specifically every day. Movement that a patient enjoys and that they tolerate is so important to ensure they can commence the changes required to improve.” - Rachel Morgan-Varlow, Owner & Physiotherapist.
